AR Environmental Education

*update coming soon*

Overview

Concept

There still are a lot of people in the world that do not believe in climate change. We assume this is only partially because of political reasons, and mostly because many people just do not understand the severity of climate change. Climate change is a difficult thing to understand because there are so many variables that play a role. It is not possible to simplify it by saying “The earth is warming up”, because that is often countered by saying it is colder in some places than it has ever been. We have created an application that makes use of augmented reality (AR) to educate the user about climate change. After scanning a QR-code, the user is guided through the application. Climate change is explained using AR as a visual tool

Features

While designing we have taken the ease of comprehensibility in mind, by really focussing our effort on creating a smooth interaction and usability to serve as a tool to convey the message. By making use of the storytelling principle we guide our users through the four parts of our application. While they are being shown the information regarding climate change we made use of design patterns and behavioral design to reduce the cognitive load of the interaction to make room for the knowledge to convey
